The Creator of The Facebook Revised

Taken from Collider.com - Screen shot from movie
The movie The Social Network is about Mark Zuckerberg’s struggle between being a computer wiz and a giant a-- hole. Mark and his friend/ex best friend Eduardo go through a journey of the business world from two different sides. Mark is interested in expanding while Eduardo is interested in making money from the site they create.

I personally enjoyed the movie. The movie was about Mark Zuckerberg getting sued by his ex best friend. It’s nothing to laugh at, but the movie made me laugh a lot. I think it was the college setting and how occasionally the director would take me through various different situations. Some funny and others sad. I really enjoy movies where there are multiple characters and locations. It also had a great cast. Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Rashida Jones, Armie Hammer, and Justin Timberlake are all amazing actors. Jesse Eisen Berg did a fantastic job portraying Mark. To me he seemed to really let go while in character which made the movie feel more real.

When I first got a Facebook I was constantly on it. I can’t remember what age I got one, but I know I wasn’t 18. After watching the movie I understand more why the age to be on Facebook is 18. The site was originally released for college kids! Who knew? As I watched the movie I felt at home watching something related so closely to college life. Granted I’m not greek (in a sorority) so a lot of the fraternity stuff I couldn’t relate to, but neither was Mark! I also didn’t go through the selection process, but it was interesting to watch Mark “out of the loop”. In the movie Mark and his GF break up in the first scene which causes him to go home drunk and blog about his break up. In my experience nothing good comes from drunk blogging. While what he wrote was funny it was my first glimpse into how big of a jerk Mark could be. He even tries to apologize to Erica later on in the movie and she turns it down. The movie felt real to me.

All in all, the movie was put together well with an amazing cast.

My First Week At Point Revised

We've talked a lot about our digital life these first weeks in English class. Something I didn't include is the fact that I write weekly letters to my family members about how things are going at UWSP. At first I started this because I knew it was a great way to keep my family informed while also saving a lot of phone conversations and constantly repeating myself at the dinner table. So underneath I have added how my first week of school went! I hope you enjoy. Since this is a very detailed letter it's quite the read, but I can guarantee it is worth reading.

Sunday: After my parents left me to die alone (just kidding). I unpacked for an hour and then Summera my friend from high school gave me a ring. I answered and she asked if I wanted to join her for dinner. I told her to give me a few more minutes to unpack and left. When I got there she introduced me to her friends at the Debot Residence Center (One of the many places to eat on campus). After having a few conversations with Cayla, Leah, and Jazz I quickly found out we had things in common such as love for anime, musicals, and of course... Disney Movies. Laura and Jazz were both involved in a group called Daisho (Die-Show) which organized a convention. They told me tomorrow I could come with them and they'd introduce me to more geeky anime loving people. After we ate I talked with Summera for an hour then went back to unpack.

Monday: I set my alarm for 8:00AM, but I should have known I wouldn't get up that early. So instead I got up at 9:20. I got ready for the day and headed out quickly to get food at our Debot Residence Center. I went to the lower level which reminds me of a gas station and grabbed a yogurt with strawberries in it and 2 granola bars. I called Summera to see what she was up to so I could eat in her dorm. I wanted company and I wasn't quite comfortable sitting by myself quite yet. I became a bit lost and as I finally figured out which way to go I dropped my yogurt on the concrete! Sad and a little flustered I picked up the granola (it was in a bag) and put it in my pocket, I did pay for it after all. I went to Summera's dorm and we chatted while she unpacked before I went to class. My first class of the day was English 101. My professor a short woman with a great sense of humor took roll call. She then had us pair up for our first assignment which involved interviewing them and awarding them a life time achievement award. My Partner Halie Cichocki (Sha-Husky) soon found out within a few questions we had a lot in common, I lucked out! She enjoys watching movies, eating popcorn, and she's majoring in education. We swapped numbers and I told her I would text her later tonight. After class I met with Summera and we went to get something to eat. As we sat she would say hello to people and introduce me to them as, "The most amazing most beautiful girl on campus," and I would laugh. We quickly gathered a group of friends sitting at one small round table. I had to take a math placement test Monday so I waited with them until it was time to go. When I took the test I was in shock over how little I knew, but since it was a placement test I knew I could only do my best. Once the test was over I quickly rejoined my new friends! We were going to a the Daisho meeting. I was so excited and once I got there while slightly awkward I found a girl who was very shy. I asked her if she wanted to stand by me with a few people and we could make conversation every once and a while. I found out that I only have to go to three meetings and then I would have to stand on a table then introduce myself to everyone. Let's just say I'm very excited for that portion of my inauguration. I stayed there for an hour and then went straight to my dorm to finish unpacking. I ended my night very tired and content with my first day.

Tuesday: So my earliest class was 11:00 and it marked the start of my major classes. NRES 151: Ecological basis for natural resource management and NRES 150: People, Resources, and the Biosphere. I must say I was a bit overwhelmed by the size of the class. It was huge! Nearly 100 or more in the lecture hall. I met all my professors in both classes. They created power point slides with them holding various different animals they've met turkey's, fish, and so many more. They shared a few facts then once they handed out the syllabus the ones who wouldn't be lecturing left. I have 4 lecture teachers and 8 lab teachers. Along with those two classes I have Interior Architecture which I'm coming to understand is a little less about actual architecture, but about diversity in the U.S. The day went by rather fast and I have so much printing to do. My professors are kind enough to have created outlines to help me take notes so all I have to do is print them the day before. I hope this will allow me to take better note taking skills. After class I met with my partner Halie for Englsih class. I wanted us to work together on our intros in hopes that if she had any questions instead of texting we could just work together.

Wednesday:
I was so excited to introduce Halie to my English class. I practiced my intro 6 times in hopes that when I got in front of the class my voice wouldn't shake. To my surprise I have gotten a lot better talking in front of groups of people! Who would have thought??  After class I met up with Summera and once again she introduced me to many new friends. Even a few people I had class with. As we sat in debot once again we picked the wrong place to sit. We quickly gathered friends at our table, but I couldn't stay long. I had class at 6:00. Geography! My teacher was a little awkward in front of the class as he went through the syllabus. It didn't take him long to get comfortable and quickly move into the lecture. He would ramble occasionally about maps, dirt, and different points on his power point. He would have to remind himself occasionally that we were not geographers. He didn't keep us long and soon I was back with my friends. I was invited to a throw back in the Dreyfus University Center (the DUC) where they were showing That's So Raven and The Sweet Life of Zack and Cody. Walking in I wasn't sure what to expect, but there was a giant screen! It was a movie theater here in my own college, I was excited. They had the famous Back Street Boys, NSYNC, and various other pop bands of the 90's. I had an amazing time.

Thursday: I had 3 classes. Two of them normal lectures and the other a discussion for NRES:150. So I started my day off right because my lecture leader Jason Riddle is so far the funniest teacher I've had. He split us up into group then instructed us to tell the group our name, major, where we're from, and if we had a rap/hip hop name what would it be. I was excited considering I come form Milwaukee where I have tons of friends who are rappers. I was one step ahead of the crowd. He told us whatever this name was it had to be PG-13 because he would call us by it for the rest of life at UWSP. Mine: JDawg. After groups talked we then introduced ourselves to the whole class. As we introduced ourselves Jason Riddle continued to make the best worst puns possible with every stage name. One student decided his stage name would be Mosas, my professor responded with, "I love it. You part the crowd like red seas." Let's just say I spent most of class laughing and hiding my face because I LOVE bad jokes. I have a feeling I'm going to love my discussion class. After class I had to quickly go down three flights of stairs for my next lecture. Nothing exciting really happened I mostly sat and took notes. After I went out to the lobby and waited 2 hours for my next class. It was fairly cold in the lobby and deciding I no longer wanted to wait I went into the lecture room. For some strange reason I thought it would be smart to go to class an hour early. It hadn't processed that the lecture room could be used for other classes. I took my seat then go comfortable thinking the people sitting in room also decided to be an hour early. WRONG. I was instructed to get a packet from the front and got up to collect it. Sitting down and looking at the packet I suddenly realized I was looking at a diagram of the human stomach. I handed the packet off to a girl who forgot to grab one. The class began and since I was all the way in the back of the room I decided to stay. Luckily it was the first day of class so I didn't have to answer any questions with fear of saying, "Sorry I'm not actually in this class I was just too lazy to get up." I sat through a lecture about the gastric system of the human body. Did I learn anything? Yes, DON'T GO TO THE CLASS ROOM AN HOUR EARLY! The human body is strange.

So I hope you enjoyed reading a break down of my classes and how I've settled into UWSP. I love every second of being here and I keep meeting such wonderful intelligent people. All my professors have different goofy personalities and I can't wait to get to know them more. Today I plan on going to a rap/hip hop showcase in hopes that it gives me a taste of home.

My World Told By Music Revised

Milwaukee Friends - Photo Taken by Necy Watson

The first song has 3 of my friends from Milwaukee in it. These men introduced me to rap in one of the best ways… Live! I would go to their shows and they would perform different sets showing off their own different skills. I miss Milwaukee and all of them every single day. After this song the rest I found in high school or after. They would help me through my toughest times and just for fun while waiting for the bus.

Personally I am a lover of musical theater so I loved that Netflix had Phantom of Opera (not the movie version). I watched it for a month straight after school.

The third song is one I listened to when I had a girlfriend for a little while. I also enjoyed listening to a guy sing about his sudden need to get condoms in song.

Naruto is a really good series and while it has a lot of fillers and 19 seasons it has different openings all amazing in their own way. The third is my favorite I would listen to while waiting for the bus in Milwaukee.

Sometimes my ex boyfriend and I didn't get along. One of my friends played Marceline's Full band version "I'm just your problem" and I fell in love with it. It embodied how I feel and I'm sure how he feels sometimes.

I worked two jobs in Milwaukee when not working at summer camp. I hated them, my supervisors were rude all the time, but there were a few who weren't.  Poison really embodied how I felt after work when tired and frustrated whether it was dealing with costumers or just with my managers it always helped me get through it.

Mouthwash by Kate Nash reminds me of how I feel about my body. She points out various different features to the listener which could be taken as positive or negative. Sometimes I'm really positive about my body and sometimes I'm not.

Evanescence is my top favorite band, I love it for the lead singer Amy Lee. Cloud Nine is one of the songs not many have heard because it wasn't played on the radio. It's just a really good song that shows off her talent.

My playlist says a lot about who I am and what I stand for. I have a song my friends made. These songs all got me through a lot of hard times that most people wouldn't assumed based off of the first time meeting me. I picked these songs for a reason to kind of place myself in the music. I think they speak a lot about my character. How fun loving, relaxed, goofy, and nerdy I am and can be. What they wouldn't learn is that I am bisexual. Outside of that I think the songs speak a lot about me.

The assumptions made based off my playlist might be that I have bad taste in music.

My taste in music would be connected to my optimistic view of the world, and my life. The music that I have chosen is complex. Similar to life because life has its up and its downs. I always look for the good in everything. Anime soundtracks is an example because to me it sounds like a journey from start to finish. In this life we all go through our own journey. This sound track is mine.
